Vishkhopri Trek Itinerary
Day 1: Drive from Dehradun to Sankri (210 km | 7–8 Hours)
Your journey begins from Dehradun railway station, where you will be picked up and driven to Sankri. The route is scenic, taking you through picturesque towns like Mussoorie, Damta, Nowgaon, Netwar, and Purola.
On the way, enjoy views of the Yamuna River and the Tons Valley. You’ll pass through forests and charming villages where locals work in their fields, offering a glimpse into rural mountain life.
After crossing the gate of Govind Wildlife Sanctuary, Sankri is about 20 minutes away. Nestled amidst mountains, Sankri offers breathtaking views and a peaceful environment. Overnight stay will be at a local hotel in Sankri.
Day 2: Drive from Sankri to Jakhol (19 km) & Trek to Liwari via Baicha (2,750 m)
Jakhol, the last village of the Supin Valley, lies 19 km from Sankri. From here, your trek begins along the left bank of the Supin River. After crossing a bridge, reach Baicha village, from where Obra Gad and the route to Devkyara are visible.
Continue trekking through potato fields and gentle ridges to reach the beautiful village of Liwari. A temple dedicated to Lord Someshwar is located here. Set up camp and stay overnight.
Day 3: Trek from Liwari to Surmola Thach (3,460 m)
Begin the day by visiting the Someshwar Devta Temple. The trail starts through potato fields and then enters dense forest filled with Deodar, Walnut, and Pine trees.
Cross a wooden bridge over Supin River and navigate through a landslide-prone zone and boulder patches. Surmola Thach is a serene alpine meadow, and nearby lies a sacred lake called Badasu. Camp here and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Day 4: Trek from Surmola Thach to Vishkhopri (3,600 m)
Leave behind the lush pastures of Surmola and follow the Supin River on its right bank. The trail includes tricky landslide-prone sections, but the view from the ridge top is worth the climb.
Descend toward the confluence of Supin and Guggal Gad to reach Vishkhopri Thach—a beautiful open meadow filled with colorful alpine flowers. Set up camp and take in the pristine beauty and silence of this hidden gem.
Day 5: Rest Day at Vishkhopri
Today is for rest and exploration. Stroll around the meadows, soak in the panoramic views, and let the peaceful atmosphere refresh your spirit.
Day 6: Trek back from Vishkhopri to Surmola Thach
Retrace your steps down to Surmola Thach. The downhill walk is easier and more enjoyable, passing through wildflower-filled fields and the lush alpine scenery.
Day 7: Trek from Surmola Thach to Liwari
Cross the Supin River and walk through forests and farmland back to Liwari village. Set up your campsite and enjoy the last night in the hills.
Day 8: Trek to Jakhol via Baicha & Drive to Sankri
Bid farewell to Liwari and follow the Supin River back to Baicha. From there, it’s a short hike to Jakhol. Vehicles will be arranged to drive you back to Sankri. Overnight stay at a hotel in Sankri.
Day 9: Drive back to Dehradun (210 km | 7–8 Hours)
After breakfast, depart Sankri by 8:00 am to reach Dehradun by evening (approximately 5:30–6:00 pm). Trip ends with beautiful memories.
