About the Trek
Hampta Pass is a stunning crossover trek connecting the lush green Kullu Valley to the arid Chandra Valley in Lahaul. The trail takes you through meadows, rocky paths, waterfalls, hanging glaciers, and the mesmerizing crescent-shaped Chandratal Lake. Witness the convergence of Hampta Pass, Rohtang Pass, and Spiti Valley, along with glimpses of Tibetan-influenced mountain villages like Sethan.
Expect varied terrains, river crossings, and breathtaking mountain views. The dramatic pass crossing offers contrasting landscapes, making it a must-do adventure. The trek is beginner-friendly with some challenging sections.

Hampta Pass Trek Itinerary
Day 1: Manali to Chika via Jobra
- Altitude: Manali (2,100 m) → Jobra (3,000 m) → Chika (3,100 m)
- Travel: 16 km drive (1 hr) + 3 km trek (2 hrs)
- Reporting Time: 12:00 PM | Drop Time: 6:30 – 7:30 PM
- Tip: Arrive in Manali a day before to avoid delays.
Day 2: Chika to Balu Ka Ghera
- Altitude: 3,800 m
- Trek: 9 km (5-6 hrs)
- Stay: Scenic campsite under the stars
Day 3: Balu Ka Ghera to Shea Goru via Hampta Pass
- Altitude: Hampta Pass (4,300 m) → Shea Goru (3,900 m)
- Trek: 7 km (10 hrs)
- Altitude Gain: 520 m
Day 4: Shea Goru to Chatru & Chandratal Drive
- Altitude: Chatru (3,350 m)
- Trek: 7 km (5 hrs)
- Drive: 50 km (3-4 hrs) to Chandratal (if road/weather permits)
Day 5: Chatru to Manali
- Drive: 65 km (5-6 hrs)
- Note: If Chandratal visit isn’t possible, direct drive to Manali.
Important Tips:
✔ Keep a buffer day for flexibility.
✔ Carry original & copy of ID proof.
✔ Arrive a day early if traveling by flight.
