Mythological Significance: According to Hindu mythology, Tungnath is one of the Panch Kedars, built by the Pandavas in their search for Lord Shiva’s forgiveness. Shiva is believed to have hidden in the Himalayas in the form of a bull, later reappearing in five places where the Pandavas built temples dedicated to him. Tungnath is said to be where his arms appeared, making it a place of immense spiritual value.

Who Can Participate?

  • Age Requirement: 9 years (April to November), 11 years (December to March)

  • First-timers welcome, though good fitness is essential

Fitness Criteria:

  • Should be able to jog 5 km in 35 minutes or walk 10 km in 80 minutes without stress

  • If cycling, should be able to cover 10 km in 30 minutes

  • Should be able to carry a 10-12 kg backpack (or 3-5 kg if opting for offloading)

  • Trekkers with BMI outside the range of 18-29 should consult the trek coordinator before booking

Day-1: Rishikesh to Sari Village
Altitude Sari: 2,000 m / 6,550 ft
Drive Distance: 190 km | 7-8 hrs

Day-2: Sari to Alpine Lake Deoriatal
Altitude Deoriatal: 2,400 m / 8,000 ft
Trek Distance: 3 km | 1-2 hrs

Day-3: Deoria Tal To Tala Village via Rohini Bugyal and drive to Baniyakund
Altitude:

  • Tala Village: 2,000 m / 6,500 ft
  • Baniyakund: 2,600 m / 8,500 ft
    Trek Distance: 10 km | 6-7 hrs
    Drive Distance: 15 km | 45 min

Day-4: Baniyakund to Chopta (drive) and trek to Tungnath and Chandrashila and Return
Altitude:

  • Tungnath: 3,500 m / 11,500 ft
  • Chandrashila top: 3,700 m / 12,000 ft
  • Chopta: 2,850 m / 9,400 ft
    Trek distance: 9-10 km | 7-8 hours (Both sides)

Day-5: Drive to Rishikesh
Drive Distance: 210 km | 7-8 hrs
