Buran Ghati Trek Overview

The Buran Ghati Trek is one of Himachal Pradesh’s most diverse and exhilarating high-altitude adventures, reaching up to 15,000 feet. Starting from the quaint village of Janglik and ending at Barua Road Head, this trek offers an unforgettable blend of adventure, natural beauty, and cultural exploration.

From the very first day, trekkers are greeted with ever-changing landscapes—verdant forests, expansive meadows (bugyals), charming villages, and panoramic views of snow-capped Himalayan peaks. One of the trek’s most thrilling features includes rappelling and sliding down a vertical snow wall near the Buran Pass, adding a true sense of adventure to the experience.

Key Highlights of the Buran Ghati Trek:

  • Diverse Terrain: Traverse through dense pine forests, lush green meadows, alpine ridges, and snowy stretches that keep the trail exciting and varied.

  • Buran Ghati Pass (15,000 ft): The crown jewel of the trek, the pass offers spectacular 360-degree views of towering mountains and deep valleys.

  • Chandranahan Lake: A sacred and scenic glacial lake nestled between hills at an elevation of about 4,260 meters (13,980 feet). It’s often surrounded by snow even in late spring.

  • Scenic Campsites: Enjoy camping in pristine locations—whether beside glacial lakes or high-altitude meadows, each site offers a unique vibe.

  • River Crossings: Multiple river and stream crossings provide a thrill and elevate the overall trekking experience.

  • Cultural Immersion: The route takes you through remote Himalayan villages, allowing you to interact with the locals and experience their traditional lifestyle.

  • Rich Biodiversity: The region is home to rare Himalayan wildlife, including musk deer, Himalayan black bears, and snow leopards.

Best Time to Visit:
The trek is especially captivating in May and June, when you can witness a blend of snow patches and fresh greenery, accompanied by the cool mountain breeze. September and October also offer clear skies and golden-hued landscapes.
